How to Access KCSE 2025 Results as KNEC Opens Online Portal Ahead of January Announcement
Kelvin Ndung'u.•
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has enabled the online results-checking portal in anticipation of the official release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results. This development indicates that final processing is complete, and close to one million candidates will soon be able to view their results through the digital system.
As students and parents await the announcement, it is important to understand how the results-checking process works and the expected release timeline. The 2025 KCSE examinations are particularly significant, as they are among the last to be conducted under the 8-4-4 education structure before the country fully transitions to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
How the KNEC Results Portal Operates
KNEC has integrated a results-checking feature into its examination registration portal. Once Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba officially announces the release, candidates will be able to access their KCSE results by providing the following details via https://results.knec.ac.ke/
Admission Number – the unique identifier assigned during registration
Full Registered Name – exactly as captured in official registration records
This online system removes the need for candidates to wait for printed result slips or travel to their former schools. Results will be available instantly, ensuring faster and more convenient access nationwide.

Expected Release Date for KCSE 2025 Results
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has confirmed that the 2025 KCSE results will be released in January 2026, within the first two weeks of the month. Marking was finalized on December 13, 2025, after the deployment of 32,558 examiners across 40 marking centers countrywide.
The January release aligns with the traditional KCSE results schedule. However, some uncertainty arose this year because KCPE results were not issued in December as previously expected. This change followed the education system transition, where Grade 6 learners now sit the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) under the CBE framework.
